Battleborn Free Download for PC Full Version
Battleborn A tremendous band of badass heroes fight to protect the universe’s very last star from a mysterious evil in this next-gen shooter by the creators of Borderlands. To defend it, you’ll need to utilize every type of character and weapon you’ve ever imagined — from cyborg hawkmen to samurai vampires to mini-gun wielding man-mountains. Slash and parry, run and gun, cast and dash, or simply obliterate foes all while building and growing your personal team of heroes. Choose your hero and fight alone or co-operatively alongside friends in story missions, or battle against them in fast-paced competitive multiplayer matches.
Battleborn’s Story Mode is a narrative experience that can be played entirely singleplayer and is even better when it’s played cooperatively with friends.
Battleborn’s team-based competitive multiplayer action can be experienced by up to 10 players online in 5v5 matches, and includes three distinct multiplayer modes.
Incursion: Teams of heroes must defend their base from waves of AI-controlled minions while working together alongside their own minions to destroy their opponent’s base.
Capture: Teams of heroes face off in a fast-paced death match and must capture and hold objectives on the map to win.
Meltdown: Teams of heroes must guide their minions as they march to their death at the center of the map. Points are scored for every minion who throws themselves into the incinerator, and the team with the most points wins.
Persistent Progression System:
All experience points, whether earned through playing Battleborn’s Story Mode or Competitive Multiplayer modes, contribute to leveling up individual Character Rank, as well as player profile Command Rank.
Character Rank: Each hero can permanently rank up from 1 to 10 outside of missions and matches, allowing players to swap out augments in their helix skill tree, as well as unlock skins.
Command Rank: Players can rank up their own player profile, unlocking badges and titles to impress friends, and loot that can be used to benefit any hero the player chooses to command.
The last star, Solus, is the only beacon of hope for the universe’s surviving factions.
The Peacekeepers are sworn protectors of Solus
The Eldrid are preservers of the natural order of the universe
The Rogues are mercenaries only concerned with their own survival
The Last Light Consortium (LLC) are war profiteers, exploiting others for their own gain
The Jennerit Empire rule others by force, valuing power above all else
Battleborn has a deep roster of 25 playable heroes and no two are the same. Every hero has their own personality and comes equipped with their own unique weapons and powers.
Battleborn’s accelerated character growth system allows players to level-up a character from 1 to 10 and fully experience each hero’s unique weapons and powers in a single story mission or multiplayer match.
At first I didn’t believe what people said about this game being nothing like Overwatch, but it really isn’t all that much like Overwatch aside from the vague “hero shooter” category, which doesn’t tell you a whole lot about the game. Yes, you pick 1 of 20-odd heroes with 3 abilities, and play different game types, but that’s about where the similarities end. Overwatch is more or less a team deathmatch twitch shooter, whichever game type you play really. It’s a great game and I intend to get it, but I see myself playing Battleborn more because it feels like it has more depth.
Battleborn is a MOBA, so things like chasing kills across the map is generally not viable. You can also do more than just kill, kill assist, or heal your team, you can also farm creeps, collect currency to buy turrets or activate your gear, or gank people trying to do those things. You also gain experience and level up, choosing different skill mutations which are quite interesting and genuinely changes the way heroes are played. Your gear loadouts can do this too, once activated in a match. You can change your playstyle on the fly and respond to your opponents compositions and builds, which can’t be done in Overwatch aside from respawning as a totally different character. I’m sure you can already see how these two seemingly similar games give an entirely different feel in-game.
There’s more to this game than shooting each other, you can really serve different functions for your team, such as pusher, support, assassin, tank, healer, etc. Matches are about 3x longer than in Overwatch, we’re talking about 30mins vs 10mins for your average match. Engagements also seem to last slightly longer, which for me is to my preference. It plays great, I guarantee that you’ll find heroes who excite you.
The game has 3 multiplayer game modes at launch, with more and more maps to come. It also has a “story mode,” but it’s not a campaign, it’s actually co-op, which is great fun, but don’t expect it to be a campaign. I quite like the co-op, and I’m sure that others will too. There are 3 right now and more missions in development.
There is a better feeling of progression and choice in terms of gear loadouts and skill builds, with a 3rd branch of skills unlocking one at a time as you progress with a character, and loot packs rewarded and bought (for in-game currency that cannot be purchased with microtransactions / real money).
The art and style of the game is also quite distinct. Personally I find both styles quite appealing in their own way, and though typically I don’t like more cartoonish art styles and prefer “cleaner, more mature” styles, I quite like Battleborn’s style. It’s not childish or immature, it’s done very well and they utilize it ingenuously at times. Just like with Overwatch, there are a ton of skins and cosmetics to unlock as you play. There are even different taunts to unlock that offer customization and individuality to your game.
The heroes are quite interesting, boasting far more melee options than Overwatch, with several hybrids which are tons of fun to play. The heroes all have great personalities and feel good to play. They not only have different weapons and skills, they have different passive abilities, different health and shield numbers, different movement speeds (some movement-heavy heroes even have strafing), different sizes and hitboxes, etc. This gives a lot of balancing options for Gearbox that feel good.
Specific questions of balance can’t be held against the game at launch like this, it’s a bit ridiculous. I care about balance a great deal but I understand that it takes time, and trial and error. Gearbox takes it seriously too, they’ve made balance changes already and have big plans to support this game into the future.
People have been complaining a lot about optimization and connectivity issues. I had problems with graphical hiccups until I went and updated my driver and restarted my rig, after which it worked perfectly and ran smooth as butter. I’ve also never had a problem finding a match, usually within seconds and certainly within a couple minutes. Gearbox also takes dropping games seriously and is looking into reasonable ways of disincentivizing this sort of behavior. I believe they have already implemented a tentative solution.
This game isn’t going to be for everyone, but even if you don’t like MOBAs, I suggest you give this a shot if you like what you’ve read in my review. I like MOBAs in principle but all of that clicking just isn’t for me. This isn’t that kind of game, but it is still quite intense. Like I said, I will get both hero shooters, but I see myself favoring this one for the reasons stated above. I prefer the RPG elements of Battleborn, it’s more of a MOBA than a team shooter and I prefer its format and gameplay. Give it a chance if this appeals to you.
